Therapists in CCRCs Show Considerable Pay Increase
June 20, 2005--
Oakland, NJ, June 20--The
national average salary of Director of Therapy/Rehabilitation in Continuing
Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) increased 5.29% in 2005 to $70,602,
according to the eighth annual AAHSA
Continuing Care Retirement Community Salary and Benefits Report, just
published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS).
Director of Therapy/Rehabilitation salaries increased 4.12% in 2004
and 3.61% in 2003. The Report is published in cooperation with the American Association for
Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). The
national average hourly rate for Physical Therapists increased 7.17% in 2005
to $30.34, compared with 0.14% in 2004, and 3.74% in 2003.
CCRC’s reported a
24.33% average position vacancy rate last year for the Therapy Department.
The length of time reported to fill a Therapy position was reported as
48.84 days. 355 CCRCs participated in
the study and provided compensation data on 57,180+ employees nationwide.
The Report covers 42 management
and 41 nonmanagement positions. Data are reported according to revenue size, total unit size,
geographic region and state. Also covered are 21 fringe benefits,
turnover rates by department, and projected salary increases for 2005 to
