Oakland, NJ, November 2016 – Hospice RNs receive higher pay than Home Care RNs, according to the 2016-2017 Hospice Salary & Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS). The national 50th percentile for Hospice RNs was $30.46/hour compared to the Home Care RN national hourly rate of $30.01. Hospice RN visit rates were even higher, with a national 50th percentile of $42.53/visit, compared to the national Home Care RN visit rate of $35.00.

National 50th Percentiles from the 2016-2017 Hospice + Home Care Reports
Participants reported the average length of a visit was 125.10 minutes for an admission visit, 107.43 minutes for a complex visit, 62.42 minutes for an evaluation visit, and 62.57 minutes for a recertification visit. In response to the age old question of prevalence of hourly pay versus per visit pay, 71.90% reported they pay an hourly rate, while 38.10% reported using a per visit pay mode. 38.54% of participants plan to increase the number of hourly mode employees, while 21.88% plan to increase the number of per visit employees.
635 hospices participated in the study. The complete 220-page Report contains 64 jobs reporting on salaries, bonuses, and hourly & per visit rates.
