Data from the 2016-2017 CCRC Salary & Benefits Report

 

Oakland, NJ, July 2016 – The national average salary for Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) in Continuing Care Retirement Communities/Life Plan Communities (CCRCs) increased 2.33% in 2016, according to the 2016-2017 Continuing Care Retirement Community Salary & Benefits Report.  The national study is published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS) in cooperation with LeadingAge

The national hourly rate for Lead Certified Nurse Aides increased 2.05% in 2016, while the hourly rate for Non‑Certified Nurse Aides increased 1.50%.  Additional shift pay (national average) for CNAs was $1.28 for weekends; $0.84 for 2nd shift, and $0.99 for 3rd shift.  Non-Certified Nurse Aide shift pay was slightly lower at $1.01 for weekends; $0.79 for 2nd shift, and $0.97 for the 3rd shift.  13.78% of participants reported paying the cost of CNA certification, and 43.90% reported they pay a premium for already certified CNAs. 

536 CCRCs participated in the 19th annual study and provided compensation data on 86,900+ employees, covering 46 management and 53 nonmanagement positions.  Findings are reported according to revenue size, total unit size, geographic region, state, and CBSA.  The Report also includes 17 fringe benefits, turnover rates by department, and projected salary increases by department for 2016 to 2017.
